Blockudoku

About the Game

Blockudoku is a browser-based puzzle game that combines traditional block placement mechanics with the spatial logic of Sudoku. Players are presented with a 9x9 grid and a set of shaped blocks. The goal is to position the blocks in a way that completes full rows, columns, or 3x3 squares. Once these are filled, they are cleared from the board, making space for new blocks and increasing your score.

How to Play

At each turn, players are given a group of three blocks. These blocks vary in shape and must be placed onto the 9x9 board. To score points, you must complete:

  • an entire horizontal line
  • an entire vertical line
  • a filled 3x3 square

When any of these conditions are met, the corresponding blocks are removed. The game continues until no more blocks can be placed on the board.

Controls

Use your mouse or finger (on touchscreen devices) to drag and drop blocks onto the board. There is no time limit, so players can take their time to plan each move carefully.

Core Mechanics

  • Endless gameplay as long as space is available
  • Random block sets to test flexibility and forward planning
  • No time pressure or level progression
  • Focus on spatial reasoning and strategic block usage

Comparison with Blocky Blast

Blockudoku and Blocky Blast both revolve around placing blocks onto a grid, but their mechanics and pacing differ significantly.

Blockudoku

  • Uses a fixed 9x9 grid
  • Focuses on completing rows, columns, and 3x3 sections
  • Features static block shapes like squares and rectangles
  • Designed for careful, slow-paced thinking

Blocky Blast

  • Uses dynamic gameplay with unique block shapes like L, Z, diagonal 2-tile and 3-tile pieces
  • Includes multiple game modes such as Adventure and Classic
  • Progresses through different levels with varying objectives
  • Offers visual variety and movement compared to Blockudoku's single-board format

In short, Blockudoku offers a consistent, logic-based approach focused on long-term planning within a single grid, while Blocky Blast introduces ongoing variation and structured challenges. Blockudoku is ideal for players who enjoy uninterrupted strategic puzzles, while Blocky Blast appeals to those who want visual progression and shape diversity.

Why Play Blockudoku?

  • Great for improving spatial awareness and planning skills
  • No time limits, allowing full control over each decision
  • Relaxed pacing with a focus on logic and layout management
  • Works on mobile and desktop browsers

Conclusion

If you are looking for a logical and uninterrupted puzzle challenge, Blockudoku is a solid option. However, if you prefer something more varied in structure and difficulty, Blocky Blast may be a better fit. Both games reward careful planning but offer different approaches to gameplay, making them suitable for different types of puzzle fans.
