In each level, you're given stacks of colorful hexagons. Your job is to place them on a grid by dragging and dropping each group. When similar colored stacks are placed next to each other, and they reach the needed height, they disappear automatically, clearing room for more hexagons.
The number of available slots is limited. If the grid becomes too full and there's no more room to place new stacks, the game ends. This makes it important to think carefully about placement, especially as levels get more crowded with higher and more complex stacks.
Color Matching and Merging
Each hexagon color acts as a separate piece. By grouping colors like cyan, purple, red, green, or blue together, you help them merge into a single action. Once the stack is full enough, the entire group disappears in a satisfying visual effect.
As shown in the image below, matching red stacks or placing light blue hexagons close together will help trigger the removal effect.
Making Space Is Key
Clearing space by triggering matches is essential. Each time you make space, it gives you more freedom to place future hexagons without blocking yourself. Higher levels may include locked tiles or obstacles that limit where you can move, so careful positioning becomes more important over time.
You can also unlock extra grid tiles using points earned during gameplay. These additional spaces are helpful when planning how to keep merging colors without filling the board completely.
Levels and Progression
Hexa Sort includes many levels. Each one has a different layout, color combination, and stack height. As you progress, new hexagon colors are introduced, sometimes with layered stacks where only the top color is visible at first. Removing the top reveals what's beneath.
